Lesson: 2 Chronicles 36:5-21
Psalm: 89:1-37
Epistle: Ephesians 3:13-21
Gospel: Luke 7:11-17
ADORATION
Almighty God, Your love forever will I sing, and from age to age my mouth will proclaim Your faithfulness. I am persuaded that Your love is established forever, and that You have set Your truth firmly in the heavens. The throne of Your Son is founded on righteousness and justice. The presence of Your Spirit goes before You in love and truth. I rejoice daily in Your Name, for You are the glory of my strength. In covenant love, Your hand holds me fast and Your arm makes me strong. You defend me from deceit and evil. You are my Father, my God, the Rock of my salvation. You are my ruler, my King, my Holy One. You crown me with righteousness, and I am victorious through Your Name.
CONFESSION
Heavenly Father, God of our ancestors, the final kings of Jerusalem despised the prophets You persistently sent them, and mocked their inspired warnings. I confess that I stiffen my neck and harden my heart against the warnings You send me today. I admit that I do not always follow Your ways, but rather choose to pollute the temple of my body, and Your dwelling place in my mind and heart. I allow my ego to become so great that there is no remedy in sight, and so I send myself into the exile of unclean thoughts, unlawful designs and inordinate desires. I acknowledge that only You can rescue me; only You can rebuild my house, and lead me, and bring me back to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling.
THANKSGIVING
Holy Spirit, through You I bow my knees before the Father in thanksgiving for the strength He gives me. I thank You that Christ dwells in my heart through faith, and that every day You are grounding me in Your infinite and selfless love. I thank You for giving me a glimpse of how deep, how broad, and how high is the love of Christ, for teaching me to understand and experience that love which surpasses all knowledge, and for filling me with the fullness of God, according to my current capacity and Your patient wisdom. Your power within me is able to accomplish more than I can ask or ever imagine, and so I do not lose heart in my sufferings, but rather I give You glory and praise forever.
SUPPLICATION
Lord Jesus Christ, You had compassion on the widow grieving for her son, raised him to life and gave him to his mother. I pray that You may daily raise me to new life. Open my mouth to speak of Your compassion towards those who are forgotten, Your consolation towards those who grieve or fear, and Your power over nature, life and death. I pray, too, that You may look favorably upon me and draw near to me. Speak to my soul and command it to rise from the bier of depression and anxiety, the death of spiritual stagnation, and the illusion of what no longer serves me. And then give me back to Your people, that I may be a source of joy and comfort to those whose lives You link with mine.
